John Leguizamo lends his voice to Ice Age 3: Dawn of The Dinosaurs.

Says Leguizamo on his experience making the film, "[Cartoons] are more fun. You feel really free. I'm a perfectionist. I can go at a line like 30 or 40 times and never get tired of coming up with something. The only problem is my voice. I learned four hours is my limit. On movies I could go on for 12 hours, but they're different -- you don't have to talk as much; there's a lot of quiet and reaction."

The third installment of the popular series opens Wednesday, July 1.

Carnival Of Darkness Short Film Festival August 6th

The 1st Annual Carnival of Darkness short film festival will be held August 6th at The Majestic Crest Theater in Westwood, Ca.

Carnival of Darkness showcases the very best new work from independent horror filmmakers. This celebration of ‘creepy’ and original film shorts and music videos will culminate in a one hour panel discussion featuring top names in the horror world.

Co-producers Alex Bram and Leah Cevoli have selected the historic landmark Crest Theater not only because of its state-of-the-art sound and projection equipment and large seating capacity (465 seats), but also because it exemplifies the indie spirit of the festival. The Crest is one of the last remaining independently owned and operated theaters in Los Angeles.

William Shatner Documentary Premieres at Nashville Film Festival

The Nashville Film Festival, April 16-23, 2009, will host the world premier of WILLIAM SHATNER'S GONZO BALLET, a documentary co-directed and produced by Kevin Layne, of Forti/Layne Entertainment, http://www.fortilayne.com, in association with The Independent Film Company and Big Screen Entertainment Group.

The documentary chronicles the creation of “Common People” a ballet by famed New York choreographer Margo Sappington who was inspired to craft the piece after hearing Shatner in an NPR interview speaking about his critically acclaimed album, “Has Been.”

“Has Been,” written by Shatner and Ben Folds of the Ben Folds Five, was recorded in Nashville and produced by Folds in his legendary Nashville Studio, a studio that has recorded many music greats including Elvis Presley. The album features appearances by Henry Rollins, Aimee Mann, Joe Jackson, Adrian Belew and Brad Paisley.

The “Common People” ballet incorporates six songs from the album and was performed by the Milwaukee Ballet when it premiered in 2007. GONZO BALLET explores the genesis of this unique artistic collaboration by fusing the music, poetry, and dance of "Common People" with interviews of the creators, dancers, musicians and Shatner himself.

-For the third year in a row, Denzel Washington comes in on top as America’s favorite movie star. Returning to the list this year at number two, after a one year absence, is Clint Eastwood. The perennial favorite, John Wayne, who died 30 years ago, is tied with Will Smith at number three.

These are the some of the results of The Harris Poll®, a new nationwide survey of 2,388 U.S. adults surveyed online by Harris Interactive® between December 9 and 15, 2008. Other findings include:

* With a return as Indiana Jones this past summer, Harrison Ford leaps from the number 10 spot in 2006, to off the list last year, to number 5 this year;
* Rounding out the top ten is Julia Roberts at number 6 (down from No. 4 last year), Tom Hanks at number 7 (down from number 2), Johnny Depp at number 8 (down from 3 last year), and two new additions to the list tied at number 9 – Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman;
* Four actors have dropped off of the list since last year – Matt Damon, Sean Connery (last year both were tied for the number 7 spot), Sandra Bullock (number 9), and Bruce Willis (number 10);
* Different groups have their favorite actors. For men, their favorite actor, Clint Eastwood, really “makes their day” while “Pretty Woman” Julia Roberts is the favorite for women;
* There are also regional differences as well – those in the East say Indiana Jones, or rather Harrison Ford, is their favorite movie actor, while Midwesterners cite Julia Roberts as their favorite. Southerners say that Denzel Washington is their favorite movie actor and Westerners, perhaps due to the large number of Westerns he starred in, say John Wayne is their favorite movie actor.

The big winners at tonight's Golden Globe Awards were Heath Ledger who won a posthumous award for the role as The Joker , Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler and Kate Winslet who won two statuettes for The Reader and Revolutionary Road. Indian film “Slumdog Millionaire” became the little picture that could at last night’s Golden Globes Awards. It went four for four, winning best picture drama, director, screenplay and musical score.

In the television category, “30 Rock” won Best TV Series (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actress and Actor in a Comedy for Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, while New York-set “Mad Men” won best TV Drama.

Double nominee Kate Winslet became a double winner after five previous nominations.

“Excuse me, I have a habit of not winning things,” a breathless Winslet said her first time onstage, for Best Supporting Actress for “The Reader.” Returning to collect Best Actress (Drama) for “Revolutionary Road,” Winslet wailed, “Oh, god, here’s the other one!”

Rourke, said during his win for The Wrestler, “It’s been a very long road back for me,” Rourke said. “Several years ago I was almost out of this business.”

Legandary film director Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” won Best Picture (Musical or Comedy.)

Bruce Springsteen won Best Song, for his theme to “The Wrestler.”

“Slumdog” was top dog, winning Best Picture (Drama), Director, Screenplay and Best Original Score.

Musical or Comedy Best Actor went to Colin Farrell for “In Bruges.” and Best Actress to Sally Hawkins for “Happy-Go-Lucky.”

Movie Company Buys Rights To All Twilight Books

Summit Entertainment, who is releasing "Twilight" this month, is looking to make future movies based on the popular series.

The company has acquired rights to the next three novels in Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster vampire series and has hired "Twilight" scriptwriter Melissa Rosenberg to write the scripts based on "New Moon" and "Eclipse," the second and third books, respectively.

A fourth book, "Breaking Dawn," does not has a writer.

"Twilight," which revolves around the relationship between an average teenage girl, Bella, and a vampire, Edward, in a rainy Northwest town, has been generating incredible attention in anticipation of its Nov. 21 release.

Summit, which has been eager for a franchise as it rolls out its distribution slate, hopes that the movie's built-in teen and early-twentysomething audience will get an added boost from older filmgoers.

In "New Moon," Edward leaves Bella, sending Bella into a depression and a friendship with another vampire. In the third book, "Eclipse," that relationship triangle evolves, while evil empires begin to pursue Bella.

"Breaking Dawn" pushes the plot further with a marriage between Bella and Edward.

Rosenberg, who also penned "Step Up" and is a writer/co-exec producer on Showtime's "Dexter," has said she was methodical in writing the scripts, choosing not to read future "Twilight" books so she could stay true to the evolution of the characters.

Zack and Miri Banned In Utah

Director Kevin Smith's new R-rated comedy "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" has been banned in Utah. Utah Jazz and Megaplex Theaters owner Larry Miller has refused to book the film. The chain's spokesman Cal Gunderson expressed concerns about the film with The New York Post, citing the film's "graphic nudity and graphic sex" and that it was "too close to an NC-17."
The company's standards seem a little odd considering that the chain had no problems screening ultra-violent fare like "Saw V," which features beheadings and explicit self-mutilation. When asked why Megaplex Theaters did not object to the gory horror sequel, Gunderson had no comment.
Kevin Smith's surprisingly tame and sentimental movie has a few flashes of nudity, a handful of love scenes played mostly for laughs, and a whole lot of foul language. In fact, the film's raunchiness level is comparable to that of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin", "Knocked Up" and "Sex Drive," all of which screened at Megaplex theaters.
It has been a difficult road for Kevin Smith's film, but it is not the first time he has encountered resistance to his frank and bawdy sense of humor. His first film "Clerks" was originally rated NC-17 for language, and his religious comedy "Dogma" sparked protests from Catholic groups. For "Zack and Miri," he again was forced to appeal an NC-17 rating with the MPAA, a teaser trailer had to be removed from his website, and the battle over the poster resulted in a design where the stars only appear as stick figures.
So what's the problem with this movie? The word "Porno" in the title.

Aside from Larry Miller's theater chain, fifteen newspapers along with several TV stations and billboard owners have been refusing to promote the flick across the country because of that word. As Philadelphia deputy mayor Rina Cutler said in a phone interview with The Wall Street Journal, "If they want to call the movie 'Zack and Miri,' that's fine, but Zack and Miri cannot make a porno on my bus shelters."

Beyonce Desires To Play Wonder Woman On Big Screen

Pop singer/actress Beyonce told the LA Times that she too wants to get her foot in that genre and wants to play Wonder Woman on the big screen. Beyoncé says that she has met with representatives of DC Comics and Warner Bros. to express her interest in a major role in one of the many comic-book adaptations now in the pipeline following the massive success of 'The Dark Knight'" 'Iron Man' and the 'Spider-Man' and 'X-Men' franchises.

She goes on to say that she chose Wonder Woman because she saw Lynda Carter's costume from the 1970s television show on display at the Costume
Institute's 'Superhero' show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

'I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it'd be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy.'
